Here we have probably the indigenous Croatian grape with smallest production - Sansigot. Extremely rare, probably less than 10.000 liters produced total in Croatia (and the whole World!). This ancient grape reminds of pinot noir, elagant, vibrant and with moderate alcohol.

Originally from a small Island Susak.

Food pairing: Due to very nice acidity, perfect match with red meat or grilledd tuna steaks.

Grape variety Sansigot
Residual sugar dry
Alcohol 12,0%
Size 0,75L
Serving temp. 16-18 ºC

Ivan Katunar is one of the most distinguished winemakers from island Krk, where indigenous Žlahtina grapes are planted centuries ago.

His passion is to get the most from this lovely grape. He also plans another ancient grape called Sansigot, which gives nice elegant red wines similar in style to Burgundian Pinot's.

Ideal south-southwest orientation, the sea and excellent ventilation allow organic cultivation in the full sense, with very little need for protective treatment of vines. The microclimate of Baška with its number of sunny hours, with the sea reflecting the sun, and the flatness of the reflection of large limestone surface area enable an insolation above the average and untypical advanced vegetation of the Kvarner region. The ground itself is a mixture of the red soil of sand and stone and the pH is high.
